DEMETECH PRESS RELEASE
DemeTech Corporation has prided itself on truly being a made to order suture manufacture. DemeTech currently manufactures over 2 million combinations of sutures. Today, we would like to formally announce the development of DemeTech's PLUS line and M line sutures. Each specific market, doctor, and ultimately each surgery, requires a different suture with a specific performance. DemeTech's PLUS line and M line have been manufactured to meet the highest performance requirements. DemeTech's PLUS Line is characterized by an improvement to the following needle characteristics.
The best surgical needles are composed of the following characteristics:
- Steel Alloy: Made of high quality stainless steel.
- Needle to Suture Ratio: The needle diameter should be slim as possible without compromising the strength of the needle.
- Needle Sharpness and Penetration: The needle should be sharp enough to penetrate the tissue with minimal trauma, bleeding, and/or resistance.
- Ductility: The needle should be rigid enough to resist bending, yet ductile enough to resist breaking during use.
DemeTech's PLUS Line and M line needles have improved on each of the above characteristics. DemeTech's PLUS line (designated with a P at the end of code) is available in round bodied, reverse cutting, curved cutting, taper cutting, blunt point, reverse cutting prime and precision point reverse cutting needles. All of DemeTech's PLUS Line sutures are manufactured with a sharper and stronger needle than our standard line. All products available in our standard line are also available in our PLUS line.
DemeTech's M line needles were developed specifically for unsurpassed strength in precision needles for use in cardiovascular, plastic surgery, dermatological, and microsurgical procedures. DemeTech's M line is available is precision point reverse cutting, reverse cutting prime, CC-V, Deme-Black, and round bodied and taper cutting for Cardiovascular use. DemeTech's M line needles are designated with an M at the end of our code.
Needle to Suture Ratio:
DemeTech's PLUS line and M line both allow for a closer ratio between suture and thread, without compromising the strength of the needle. As DemeTech's PLUS line and M line use a stronger steel than our standard line, we are able to use a thinner wire diameter during production of the suture. Below, please find a picture of our PLUS Line needle and thread connection.

Needle Sharpness:
Needle sharpness is essential in every surgical procedure. The sharper the needle, the less trauma caused, which ultimately results in the least amount of scarring. However, it is essential to find the perfect balance, as too sharp of a needle may result in a surgeon not feeling they have adequate control of needle passage through the tissue. DemeTech's PLUS line needles are significantly sharper than our standard needles. As the PLUS line uses a higher quality steel, it allows for the needle to holder a sharper edge.
**DemeTech's PLUS line is a sharper needle than our Standard line and therefore it requires less force to penetrate the tissue. Please see the chart comparing a 19mm reverse cutting needle in both our Standard and PLUS line.
DemeTech's M line needles are unsurpassed in sharpness, even when compared with the market leader, but at a much more economical price (as seen in the chart above).
Ductility:
Ductility refers to the needle's resistance to breaking under a given amount of pressure/bending. If too great of pressure is applied, any needle may break. However, the more ductile the needle is, the more that the needle will bend before breaking. Often, more ductility is preferred. Comparative studies have shown that DemeTech's PLUS Line and M line needles are more ductile than our leading competitors.
| | Sharpness | Ductility | Usage | Key Advantage |
| Standard Quality | Sharp | Ductile | General Surgery | High quality needle at a reasonable price. |
| PLUS line | Sharper | Very Ductile | General Surgery | Extremely sharp, ductile, and resistant needle, at a much lower price than the competition. |
| M line | Sharpest | Most Ductile | Specialized Surgery | Sharpest needle for specialized surgery, offering the most precise point, highest ductility, and sharp edge. |
Cardiovascular development:
DemeTech strives to improve in each of its markets. Not only does DemeTech focus on improving its current products, but it is consistently developing new and improved products. DemeTech has recently developed CC-V needles and Deme-Black needles. DemeTech has developed specialized CC-V needles for use in cardiovascular surgery for calcified vessels. These specialized tips are in high demand in the world's cardiovascular market. DemeTech's Deme-Black needles are blackened needles that do not cause any glare to the surgeon during use. Although Black point needles are mostly used in the Cardiac market, we can manufacture black needles for any size requested. DemeTech's CC-V and Deme-Black needles are only available on our M line.
DemeTech's distribution continues to grow and solidify. DemeTech is now present in over 80 countries around the world, each day solidifying its market more and more. DemeTech's Miami, FL, USA manufacturing plant is truly one of the most technologically advanced manufacturing facilities in the world.
